I had so much fun photographing Miss J when she decided it was time to get out of her comfort zone and try something new, after she has smashed many goals for herself this year. Keep reading about her experience below!

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO DO A BOUDOIR SHOOT?

I wanted to do something to celebrate myself, to congratulate myself, for accomplishing all that I have and for finally being at a place in my life where I was truly in love with myself. I reached a lot of goals in the last year that I never thought possible. This growth that I had achieved mentally and physically is what helped me consider a boudoir photo shoot because I wanted to flaunt what a badass I am by stepping out of my comfort zone.
Anytime I have ever stepped out of my comfort zone in any aspect of my life I have not regretted it as every experience is a learning opportunity. This has become a major prerequisite in learning to love myself, but I still kept telling myself “just lose 10 more lbs then do it”. As I usually do, eventually I got sick of this mentality, it was the same mentality that made me procrastinate getting my health and happiness on track in the first place.
So I decided that because I was turning 30, single, now living in the city in a space of my own, advancing my career as a Nurse, and flourishing my friendships with soul fulfilling experiences, I found myself the happiest I had ever been and I wanted this documented in order to reflect on this part of my life in the future. I then found Crave Boudoir on Instagram and instantly sent an email to Samantha because I loved all of her photos and here we are now.

HOW DID YOU FEEL DURING YOUR SESSION?

Considering I was stepping out of my comfort zone I felt really comfortable with Samantha. I have zero modeling experience and never in my entire life have I ever shown that much skin to be photographed (this was a big deal for me). The fact that I felt comfortable enough to go topless speaks wonders about how great this experience was. Samantha really made me feel like a pro and knew exactly what she was doing.

HOW DID YOU FEEL WHEN YOU SAW YOUR IMAGES FOR THE FIRST TIME?

Honestly, at first I wasn’t even sure I was looking at myself. I was looking at a sexy, mature, confident model. I felt proud of myself for having the courage to do this. I felt accomplished and beautiful in every way. I was happy I didn’t wait to lose more weight before doing this, and I became more accepting of the body parts I am self-conscious of. I was content with my progress thus far and felt even more motivated to crush goals, because if I can get this far, I can keep going. The boost of self-confidence I got from seeing these photos is unreal, I fell a little deeper in love with myself and I am so grateful for that.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THIS EXPERIENCE TO OTHER WOMEN?

I have and will continue to encourage other women around me to consider this experience. Since showing my photos to others I’ve gotten feedback such as: “Good for you, I could never do something like that”, and “Where did you get the confidence to do that?” These comments are coming from some of the most gorgeous, intelligent, loveable women I know. It made me realize just how far I have come with my self-love and I wish that these women could see themselves in the same way. If there is one thing I have learned it is that self-care is so important but not always easy, as women we need to make sure we make this a priority and focus. What better way than to have an amazing photographer focus her lens on you for a few moments, a few moments that will bring you unmeasurable happiness, growth, and pride.

As you can see, the confidence is radiating from Miss J. The feeling doesn’t fade after the photo shoot. The images serve as a reminder to you about how far you’ve come, and what a badass you are! You never need to have someone to gift these photos to, the gift is all for YOU.
